Biggest upgrade coming out of this whole thing? the logo! Sure, we enjoy the patriotism suggested by making the logo red, white, and blue, but every sports league in the nation does that. IZOD comes in with a bunker-buster full of originality and says "F**K THAT! This series now belongs to the United States of AWESOME!" (or, in some circles, the United States of SO IS YOUR FACE!) Let's praise our new red-and-black, Wilbur Shaw-themed cotton t-shirt-wearing overlords as they dance atop IRL headquarters makin' it rain $10 million! All hail that stylish dude with the unnecessarily big sunglasses, nearly-shaved head, and open shirt!

Is that press conference photo from Dallas on Nov 22 1963? I know its a big day for us (I am raising a pint of Sam Adams Cherry Wheat to chase my shots of 190 proof laboratory strength alcohol), but its a good day, right? Or are you predicting a disgruntled Viso takes a few shots at Barnhart from a tall building, while the real shooter (Ganassi) escapes into the night?

Today should be the day that all of us open wheel fans unite and move forward with a great title sponsor and together support OUR Izod Indycar series. During the split some of us supported the IRL and some of us supported Champ Car and in the end all we did was the type of motorsport we love and allow Nascar to take over. Now the open wheel war is over and regardless of who you supported during the split years, those days are behind us and its time to unite our fans just like our teams did 2 years ago. Today we can use this as our call to arms, to support the sponsor, the series and to stick a big finger up to all who look down on open wheel racing. Indycar can return to being the biggest and best racing series in the world. Today is the first big step… Now let’s party!!
